오늘은 instead of와 instead 용법에 대해 살펴보도록 합시다 ^,^ 준비됬나요?
" To stay fit, I ride my bike to and from work. What do you do to keep healthy?" "Nothing in particular,but I use stairs instead of elevators." |
" 나는 건강을 유지하기 위해서 출퇴근에 자건거를 타는데,
너는 건강을 유지하기 위해서 뭔가 해?
특별히 하는건 없는데, 엘리베이터 대신에 계단을 이용해!"
( 엘리베이터 대신에 계단이용! 한번 해보세요! )
여기서 instead of..... 는 instead of + 사람/상황 의 형태로 쓰이고 ....(사람) 대신에, .... (사물/상황)....대신에 의 뜻을 나타내는 부사 입니다. ....of 을 생략해서 instead 한 단어로만 쓸때도 많은데, 뜻은 그 대신에 가 됩니다. ...of 명사가 없어도 뭐 대신인지 뜻을 쉽게 알 수 있는경우에 생략하는 것이죠.
우리말로, ....대신에, 그 대신에 라고 말하고 싶을때는, instead of..., instead 을 써 보세요.
예를들어,
a. Lee was ill so I went instead ( Lee가 아파서 내가 그 대신에 갔다 ) b. Lee was ill so I went instead ( of him ) ( Lee가 아파서 내가 Lee대신에 갔다 ) c. We just had soup instead of a full meal ( 식사대신에 스프만 먹었어 ) d. Now I can wark to work instead of going by car ( 이제 차로출근하는대신에 걸어서 출근할 수 있어 ) |
