오늘은 put off, postpone에 대해 알아보도록 해요
" I'm exhausted." " I beg your pardon?" " I'm tired, so let's call it a day." " No way! We must not put off till tomorrow what we can do today" |

" 난 너무 피곤해, 그러니까 오늘은 일은 그만합시다."
" 절대 안돼! 오늘 할수 있는것은 내일로 미루면 안돼"
( 오늘일을 내일로 미루지 말라! 많이 들어보셨죠!)

> exhausted ; 기진맥진한, 아주 피곤한
> I beg your pardon? ; = Excused me? 뭐라고요? ( 다시한번 말씀해 주실래요? )
> call it a day ; 하루 일을 끝내다. 하루 일을 그만하는 걸로 하다
> No way ; 절대안돼!
여기서 put ...off 는 미루다, 연기하다 란 뜻입니다. postpone 하고 같은뜻으로 둘 중 아무거나 써도 됩니다. 목적어로는 명사나 동명사가 온다고 문법책에서 많이 보셨죠!
우리말로 " 미루다 ", " 연기하다 "라고 말하고 싶을때는, put off, postpone 을 쓰세요.
예를들어;
a. The meeting has been postponed till next Sunday (미팅이 다음주 일요일까지 연기되었다) b. put off an appointment ( 약속을 연기하다) c. put off going to the dentist.(치과에 가는걸 미루다) |
